MIDA Trade Ventures participated in the Shrimp Aquaculture Conference in Bali held on June 20-22, 2023.
This conference is hosted and organized by Petambak Muda Indonesia (PMI). It consists of several seminars related to surviving turbulence in the shrimp industry and is attended by many important stakeholders in the Indonesian shrimp industry. Many of the speakers reminded us all of the importance of #sustainability, #personalbranding, investment in #technology, and awareness of the #marketsituation.
Christopher Tan Puay Liang of MIDA raised a discussion on how to improve the personal branding of Indonesian shrimp. He noticed that, unlike Ecuador and India, the lack of certifications owned by Indonesian farmers might hinder its growth in the industry. Chris then compared the Ecuador shrimp price with Indonesia, and how improvement in product quality will always going to benefit farmers.
